Our students

Our students range from four years old to 79, come from all over the world and want to learn Italian for many different reasons…

M. and A. are two Americans who for 10 years have been vacationing in Umbria and since 2017 have decided to move to Italy and live in Spello. They began to follow an intensive course to improve their Italian enough to be useful for life in Italy. They study 2 to 4 days a week and in a short time and with strong commitment they have become more confident in using Italian in their everyday lives.

D. is an American student who spent three months on vacation in Umbria. He studied with us two days a week for a month because he hopes to spend more time in Italy in future. He has two main objectives for an Italian course: to understand what others are saying and to speak correctly. In an agriturismo immersed in nature near Lago Trasimeno, we hold lessons in the garden, so D. remains comfortably in his lodgings where the teacher comes to him. A vacation to discover the Umbrian countryside and the Italian language.

K. and W. are a Dutch couple who decided to live in Italy, more precisely in Umbria at the foot of Monte Subasio, five years ago.  W. had already studied Italian and had followed a course with us to reinforce and broaden her command of Italian. She is a writer, so besides her interest in the spoken language and  her participation in our conversation groups, she wanted to improve her written language. K., her husband, started from zero and in 90 hours of lessons reached a good level of communication in Italian. His objective was never to speak it well but to manage to read the Italian literature and see the Italian films of the 50s and 60s: a model student who never skipped a lesson and who brought to them every possible effort to reach the objective he had set for himself.

J. is an Australian and, after having been to Italy a number of times, decided to buy a house in Spello and to live there at least 6 months of the year. She speaks good Italian, fluently and correctly, and moves around the streets of Spello like a real “spellana”, so much so that she won first prize in the 2018 competition of balconi fioriti, or flowered balconies. She chose, nevertheless, to continue to work on her knowledge of Italian in private lessons with us at least twice a week and in Skype lessons on her return to Adelaide.
